Gąsawa is an urban-rural municipality in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, located in the Żnin County, with the town of Gąsawa serving as its administrative seat. The municipality covers an area of 135.7 km², dominated by agricultural land (65%) and forests (24%), accounting for 13.78% of the county's total area. In its administrative history, the municipality was part of the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. The area boasts numerous historical monuments, including the 19th-century manor complex in Chomiąża Szlachecka, the wooden St. Nicholas Church from 1674 in Gąsawa, and the church complex in Ryszewko. A notable attraction is the Archaeological Reserve in Biskupin, which draws tourists with its historical significance. The municipality is also an appealing tourist destination with hiking and cycling trails, such as the Piast Trail and the Leszek the White Trail. Four tourist routes pass through Gąsawa, connecting important localities, lake channels, and rich forest communities, which serve as key recreational spots. The natural resources of the municipality are protected within the Żnin Lakes Protected Landscape Area, highlighting its diverse landscape, including lake channels and numerous natural monuments, such as an avenue of small-leaved linden trees. Thus, Gąsawa is a place rich in architectural and cultural heritage, blending history, nature, and growing tourism.
