wikipedia
Galgenberg, also known as Execution Hill, is an elevation located in Wodzisław Śląski at Kopernika Street. This site has a rich history dating back to the late Middle Ages, when it served as an execution ground operated by the ducal court. The executions carried out on this hill took the form of hanging, lending it a somber character. It is worth noting that the hill features erratic boulders arranged in a distinctive circular pattern, which may suggest an earlier, possibly cultic significance of the location. During World War II, the Nazi authorities planned to create an avenue of honored Germans on Galgenberg, though this never came to fruition. After the war, the area fell into neglect and was largely forgotten, which affected its condition. Today, efforts are being made to revitalize Galgenberg to restore its function as a park and viewpoint, allowing both residents and tourists to enjoy panoramic views of the city. Combining architectural, historical, and cultural elements, this site represents an interesting point on the map of Wodzisław Śląski.
