wikipedia
Garaszewo, a small part of Poznań located within the Krzesiny-Pokrzywno-Garaszewo housing estate, has a rich history dating back to medieval times. The village was owned by the Poznań Chapter, and the first mentions of it come from the year 1400. Archdeacon Wojciech granted the privilege of the village headship to Mirosław, which testifies to the locality's importance in those days. Archaeological research suggests that the settlement was established between the 10th and 12th centuries. Garaszewo, known for its agricultural character, was incorporated into Poznań in 1940. Today, the village is gradually developing in terms of villa-style housing and small craft-industrial plants. It attracts attention with a section of the A2 motorway and a bus loop serving lines 189 and 194. Garaszewska Góra, an artificially raised hill, is a popular recreational spot with a walking and cycling path and an excellent view of the surrounding area. On the southern outskirts lies the ecological site "Świątnica I," established to protect unique species of flora and fauna, with numerous aquatic plants. The waters of Świątnica are home to newts, frogs, as well as rare species such as the sand lizard. Among the invertebrate fauna, spiders, including the wasp spider, attract attention. In Garaszewo, one can also see two roadside crosses, one of which dates from before World War II, and the other was erected in 1949. An important element of local history is a German shelter from World War II, well-preserved but partially buried. Thanks to preserved architectural elements and unique natural resources, Garaszewo is an interesting place that combines historical, cultural, and natural aspects, offering both tourist and educational value.
