wikipedia
Gościno is an urban-rural municipality in northwestern Poland, within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, with a population of approximately 5,200 residents. The seat of the municipality is the town of Gościno. Covering an area of 116 km², it constitutes 16.0% of the Kołobrzeg County territory. The area includes numerous localities and several important rivers, such as the Parsęta and Błotnica, which contribute to the region's distinct natural character. The municipality boasts a rich historical heritage dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was part of the Kołobrzeg Castellany and served as a gateway to trade routes. Significant historical events include the Christianization mission of St. Otto of Bamberg and administrative changes related to Pomeranian dioceses and duchies. Among the local landmarks are the Church of St. Andrew Bobola and palaces belonging to the von Braunschweig family in Mołtowo and the Romelo family in Ramlewo, which reflect the area's architectural legacy. Economically, the municipality is primarily agricultural, with service activities centered around several local businesses, including a dairy and a chemical plant. An interesting feature is the operational section of the Karścino Wind Farm, along with planned new investments in renewable energy. The area also benefits from a well-developed transportation network, including national and regional roads that connect Gościno to nearby cities. While forested areas are limited, the landscape is dominated by agricultural land use. Administratively, the municipality is divided into 12 village administrative districts (sołectwa), ensuring residents have proper representation in local government. The community is socially active, with numerous organizations, sports clubs, and a volunteer fire department contributing to vibrant civic life. Combining its rich historical legacy with modern developmental aspirations, Gościno stands as a dynamic locality on the map of Poland.
