Dobre Miasto is an urban-rural municipality located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within the Olsztyn County, with its administrative seat in the town of Dobre Miasto. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship. According to demographic data, the population was 16,342 in 2011, which decreased to 15,844 by 2019. Geographically, the municipality lies within the Olsztyn Lakeland, featuring diverse terrain that includes moraines, outwash plains, and river valleys. The elevation ranges from 80 to 180 meters above sea level. The western and southeastern parts are dominated by boulder clay, while the central and northeastern areas feature sandy and gravel accumulations associated with glacial meltwater. Natural aggregate deposits can be found in the Barcikowo region and its surroundings. The municipality is also home to several lakes, such as Jezioro Błotne, Gilgajny, and Limajno. The total area of the municipality is 258.67 km², with agricultural land accounting for 49% and forests covering 34%. Dobre Miasto is also known for its natural monuments, including small-leaved linden trees designated as natural monuments in 1994. The area includes two protected landscape areas: the Lower Łyna River Valley and the Middle Łyna River Valley. The municipality consists of the town of Dobre Miasto and 22 rural administrative units (sołectwa). It borders the municipalities of Dywity, Jeziorany, Lidzbark Warmiński, Lubomino, and Świątki. Dobre Miasto takes pride in its international partnerships with towns such as Quakenbrück in Germany and Montierchaume in France, as well as with several Polish cities. The municipality is valued for its diverse natural and cultural assets, which attract tourists and support the development of the local community.
