wikipedia
Dobre Miasto, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, is a town with a rich history dating back to 1325, when it was founded on the site of an ancient Prussian stronghold. Its name, derived from the Prussian tribe Gudde, evolved over time, eventually becoming Dobre Miasto after World War II. The town played a significant role as the seat of the bishop's chapter and a center of trade and craftsmanship, known for its production of textiles and beer. The history of Dobre Miasto is marked by numerous events, including fires, wars, and invasions, which greatly influenced its development. The architecture of Dobre Miasto, such as the Gothic Church of the Holy Savior and All Saints and fragments of 14th-century defensive walls, reflects its rich cultural heritage. The town also boasts modern structures, like the 1905 water tower and the classicist former Evangelical church. Interestingly, Dobre Miasto served as a bishopric center for many years, and the Warmian bishop A. Ch. Załuski has his epitaph here. The town also has a sporting tradition, represented by the local football club DKS Dobre Miasto. International cooperation includes partnerships with towns in Germany, France, and Ukraine, highlighting its regional importance. Today, Dobre Miasto is not only a historical gem but also a dynamic service center with well-developed road and rail transport.
