Zielonka (powiat bydgoski)

W skrócie

wikipedia
Zielonka, also known as Wolfshals, is a village in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, located near Bydgoszcz. Its name comes from the "herbs" (or "green plants") growing in the meadows. Between 1950 and 1998, the village was part of the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship. Zielonka is a residential and service-oriented settlement, surrounded by the forests of the Bydgoszcz Wilderness. The village consists of four hamlets: Głodna Ameryka, Kolonia Błotna, Madera, and Wilcza Szyja. Although agriculture plays a secondary role here, the area is home to craft workshops and reserves for manufacturing plants. The history of Zielonka dates back to the 17th century when four Dutch settlers (Olędrzy) established themselves here. In the 18th century, the village was almost completely abandoned but was later resettled. During the 19th century, sheep farming developed, and in 1920, many Poles settled in Zielonka, changing the ethnic composition of the village. During World War II, Zielonka was a site of repression against the local Polish population. After the war, the village developed slowly, with notable growth observed after 2000. The area also features inactive Evangelical cemeteries and a site of dwarf cherry trees, protected as a natural monument. Zielonka boasts a unique character and history, blending rural traditions with a modern way of life.
