Grodzisko Dolne is a rural municipality in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within Leżajsk County, with its administrative seat located in the village of Grodzisko Dolne. The history of the region dates back to the times when these lands were part of the estates of the Tarnowski family and later the Lubomirski family. During the 17th and 18th centuries, various localities within the municipality became distinct, and Miasteczko was granted town rights around 1740. During the partitions of Poland, the municipality was divided into village clusters (gromady) and underwent administrative reorganization. In 1930, Miasteczko was merged with Grodzisko Dolne, and in 1954, as a result of administrative reform, the municipality was abolished and replaced by gromadas. The Grodzisko Dolne municipality was reinstated in 1973.
The region's architecture is dominated by traditional residential buildings and rural structures, which reflect the area's rich history. The demographic structure is also noteworthy, with a population of approximately 8,180 residents in 2004. The municipality borders other communes, such as Białobrzegi and Leżajsk, fostering regional cooperation. It also boasts natural resources, including agricultural and forested areas, highlighting its agricultural character. Residents often engage in local traditions and cultural activities.
Municipal leadership has been held by various chiefs and mayors, with the current mayor, Jacek Chmura, serving since 2006, contributing to the development of local initiatives. With its rich history, local traditions, and natural advantages, Grodzisko Dolne remains a significant part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
