wikipedia
Wysokie (German: Hohenfelde) is a Kashubian village located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the municipality of Łęczyce, known for its rich historical heritage. The origins of the settlement date back to the 16th century, when between 1581 and 1585, a ducal manor farm was established on a hill, with its headquarters relocated from Pużyce. The manor was significantly developed, featuring new wooden buildings, barns, and sheepfolds, and its grounds were enclosed by a sturdy fence. Architecturally, it stood out with buildings constructed using the half-timbered (Fachwerk) technique and a residential house made of brick with a thatched roof. Wysokie was dissolved after the First Partition of Poland in 1772, and its lands were parceled out. In the 19th century, the village consisted of about 13 farms, inhabited primarily by German colonists. The school in Wysokie began operating after World War II, going through various stages of development and eventual closure in the early 2000s. Since 2005, the school building has housed a chapel dedicated to St. Faustina Kowalska, as well as a community center of the Municipal Cultural Institution and Library. Among its historic sites is a former Evangelical cemetery from the second half of the 19th century, situated in a forested area surrounded by tall trees. The cemetery, with faint remnants of gravestones, is enclosed by the remains of a stone wall, adding to the mystique of the place. Wysokie, with its historical roots and cultural heritage, is an example of the local Kashubian identity.
