Dziuplina

wikipedia
Dziuplina, known before 1945 as Daupe, is a village in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in Oława County, with approximately 350 inhabitants. The village is distinguished by its well-organized community, which actively participates in cultural life by organizing events such as festivals, kayaking trips, and summer activities for children. The center of cultural life is the village hall, which serves as a venue for parties, concerts, and theatrical performances for children. Historically, Dziuplina has roots dating back to the Middle Ages, when the area was inhabited by the Ślężanie tribe. In the 13th century, Dziuplina was granted to the Premonstratensian Order. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was known for fish farming, and the Reformation brought changes in the religious affiliations of the inhabitants, with the local community converting to Protestantism despite originally belonging to Catholicism. When Silesia came under Prussian rule in the 18th century, the village began to undergo Germanization, and the Polish language gradually lost its significance. The 19th century was a period of development, as residents introduced modern machinery and farming techniques. After World War I, Dziuplina experienced demographic stagnation, and until World War II, the inhabitants still used Polish in conversations. After the war, in 1945, the village was resettled by Poles who arrived from the Eastern Borderlands. The settlement process was organized, and the first village leader (sołtys) was Marian Popiel. In the following years, new institutions such as a school were established, and the village hall was built. The 1950s brought collectivization, which was, however, quickly abolished. Recent decades have seen changes in the social structure, with residents migrating to cities and growing interest in building houses in the area, which may influence the future development of Dziuplina. An interesting fact is the annual festivals with diverse themes, such as Noc Kupały (Kupala Night) or Western picnics, which attract both the local community and tourists.
