Jelcz-Laskowice, a municipality located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, boasts a rich ecological, cultural, and historical heritage. The region's flora and fauna, shaped by the last post-glacial period, include oaks, pines, and a variety of animal species, many of which are protected. Along the Oder Waterway, rare species such as the great capricorn beetle, the swallowtail butterfly, as well as diverse amphibians, reptiles, and birds—including as many as 109 protected bird species—can be observed, highlighting the area's ecological significance. The municipality is also home to the "Łacha Jelcz" nature reserve, which safeguards the water chestnut. With its administrative seat in Jelcz-Laskowice, the municipality covers an area of 168.1 km², of which 57% is agricultural land and 33% is forested, accounting for 32.1% of the Oława County's total area. Between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Wrocław Voivodeship, and as of the end of 2013, its population was 23,190. Notably, the region features 15 natural monuments, including the renowned "Tree of the Year 2014"—the Słowianin Oak. Transportation in the municipality is well-developed, with provincial roads and railway lines ensuring easy accessibility. From a historical perspective, the area has undergone significant demographic changes, and its residents face economic challenges, resulting in a relatively low natural population growth. Despite this, Jelcz-Laskowice stands out for its beautiful landscapes and rich natural heritage, making it an interesting place both to live in and to visit.
