wikipedia
The indulgence Church of the Holy Trinity in Koszęcin, built in 1724 on the site of an earlier 16th-century temple, is a valuable monument located on the Wooden Architecture Trail in the Silesian Voivodeship. Its construction is associated with local legends that speak of an apparition to the miller's daughter, Wiktoria, and a miraculous spring of healing water discovered nearby, from which people drew water to cure ailments. The church is built of wood, with a log structure and three steep gable roofs covered with wood shingles. Inside, there are richly decorated altars, including a Baroque main altar from the first half of the 18th century, which originally contained Gothic sculptures, many of which were stolen, with the remainder deposited in the Archdiocesan Museum in Katowice. The church also features an interesting interior decor, including an organ from 1886, which has undergone a series of renovations and is a valuable cultural element of the local community. The history of the church is closely tied to the local cult of the Holy Trinity, as well as to the adjacent cemetery, where notable figures are buried, including the church's builder and many priests. The church was also a pilgrimage site, and the legendary stories are linked to the region's rich cultural tradition. It is worth noting that the trunk of the legendary oak tree, under which the apparitions are said to have occurred, is located next to the main altar and is considered a significant element of its history. Despite numerous renovations, the church has retained many historical features, making it an interesting destination for tourists and enthusiasts of Silesian history.
