wikipedia
The Holy Trinity Church in Rachowice, located in the Gliwice County of the Silesian Voivodeship, is a historic Catholic church that currently serves as a parish church in the Pławniowice deanery of the Diocese of Gliwice. Situated on the Wooden Architecture Trail and near the Silesian Insurgents' Trail and cycling route number 15, it attracts tourists with both its architecture and history. The village of Rachowice was first mentioned in 1305, and reliable evidence of the existence of the Holy Trinity church dates back to 1447. The masonry chancel from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries is the oldest part of the structure, while the current wooden nave was built around 1668, with the tower added between 1679 and 1688. In 1705, the tower was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt between 1780 and 1790. The church has undergone numerous renovations throughout its existence, for example in 1856, 1866, 1902, and after World War II between 1945 and 1957. During these restoration works, many valuable architectural elements were preserved, such as the log-and-roof wooden structure and the original Baroque interior furnishings. The gable roof covered with shingles and the tall tower with a tented roof highlight the unique character of the building. The chancel features Gothic lunette vaulting, and outside, an iron tombstone of Franciszek Imiela is placed. The church is also distinguished by its rich furnishings, including a Baroque main altar from the 17th century and Late Baroque side altars from the 18th century. The organ, built by organ maker Henryk Hober between 2008 and 2009, was modeled after earlier instruments. The church's surroundings, with its old wooden fence, a war memorial, and the "Passion of Christ" cross from 1830, add to its historical and cultural significance for the local community. The Holy Trinity Church in Rachowice is a unique monument that harmoniously combines architectural value with the rich history and traditions of the region.
