wikipedia
The Parish of the Holy Trinity in Chynów, established in 1434, is a Roman Catholic community belonging to the Czersk Deanery in the Archdiocese of Warsaw. The current wooden parish church, built in the 17th century, has a rich history dating back to the origins of the parish. Adjacent to the church cemetery is a late Gothic slab from 1500, commemorating Warsaw Dean Bartłomiej of Belsk. The first written mention of the church comes from documents of the Archdiocese of Poznań dated 1513. In the 16th century, specifically in 1576, the villages of Wola Piekut and Przekory were incorporated into the parish. At that time, all the villages belonged to the Szeliga Chynowski and Rogala Łoski families. From 1566 to 1603, the parish priest was Andrzej Dąbrowski, who simultaneously served as parish priest in Sobików and as a canon in Poznań. In 1603, the Parish of Chynów belonged to the Diocese of Poznań. During the visitation by Bishop of Poznań Wawrzyniec Goślicki, the presence of a wooden church dedicated to the Holy Trinity was noted, most recently renovated in 1602. The parish priest's income came from the manor farm in Chynów and tithes from the villages: Piekut, Krężel, Chynów, Wola Chynowska, and Przekora. The parish had its own school, where the rector was Szymon of Drwalewo, and the cantor was Franciszek of Chosna. In 1828, Tsar Nicholas I transferred part of the royal estates to the Treasury of the Kingdom of Poland, including the manors of Wola Chynowska and Krężel, as well as the village of Chynów. After the final partition of Poland in 1795, the parish came under the jurisdiction of the newly established Diocese of Warsaw and, in 1881, was part of the Grójec Deanery, which comprised 30 parishes. An interesting fact is that on March 15, 2023, a fire broke out in the parish, destroying the sacristy, but the historic interior of the temple remained untouched. The parish priests since 2005 have been Fr. Canon Marek Wolniewicz (2005–2012), the late Fr. Jacek Zalewski (2012–2018), and Fr. Canon Dr. Piotr Borys (since 2018). The parish is served by archdiocesan priests, contributing to its ongoing cultural and religious development in the region.
