Horodło is a rural commune in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Hrubieszów County, with its seat located in the town of Horodło. Covering an area of 130.27 km², the commune had a population of 5,762 in 2004. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Zamość Voivodeship. The area is home to the international road border crossing Zosin-Uściług, which marks the easternmost point of Poland and significantly contributes to the local economy and cultural exchange with Ukraine. The commune of Horodło features a diverse landscape, dominated by agricultural land (71%) and forests (21%). Within its territory lies the Liski Nature Reserve, established to protect natural oak forests, and the Kacapka Ecological Site, which includes a lake of the same name. The commune comprises several villages, including Bereżnica, Cegielnia, Ciołki, and Zosin. It borders other communes such as Białopole, Dubienka, and Hrubieszów, as well as Ukraine, fostering international connections. Architecturally, the region is characterized by traditional rural buildings, reflecting elements of local culture.
