Hrubieszów Commune, located in the Lublin Voivodeship within Hrubieszów County, is a rural commune with its administrative seat in the town of Hrubieszów. From 1975 to 1998, the commune belonged to the Zamość Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune had a population of 10,958. Its area spans 259.2 km², dominated by agricultural land (82%) and forests (12%), reflecting its rural character. The commune covers 20.42% of Hrubieszów County's total area. It comprises numerous villages, such as Annopol, Brodzica, Dąbrowa, Husynne, Janki, and Masłomęcz, as well as the locality of Białoskóry, which does not have village status. The commune borders the communes of Białopole, Horodło, Mircze, Trzeszczany, Uchanie, and Werbkowice, as well as Ukraine, contributing to its cultural diversity. The region is home to the Huragan Gmina Hrubieszów Sports Club, an amateur football club established in 2006 through the merger of several local teams. Matches are held on the pitch in Teptiuków, and the senior team competes in the regional league. With its rich agricultural traditions, natural surroundings, and sporting activities, the commune has the potential to further develop its cultural and social offerings.
