The Hugo Kołłątaj Memorial Chamber in Wiśniowa is a museum dedicated to the eminent figure of the Polish Enlightenment, Hugo Kołłątaj. The institution is located in the former Kołłątaj Palace from the first half of the 18th century, which now forms part of the Educational Institutions Complex, including the Public Primary School and Kindergarten. The museum was established in 1967 thanks to the initiative of Jan Henryk Góral, a resident of Sztomberg, who passionately collected memorabilia related to Kołłątaj and served as its curator until his death in 1984. The center is currently under the care of the school. The museum's collections include valuable documents and old prints, including editions of Kołłątaj’s works such as *Do Stanisława Małachowskiego, referendarza koronnego Anonima listów kilka* and *Rozbiór krytyczny zasad Historyi o początkach rodu ludzkiego*. It is worth noting that the museum also holds Kołłątaj’s letters to his family from the years 1792–1794, as well as numerous editions of the Constitution of May 3, which is a significant element of Polish history. The Memorial Chamber is open during school hours and by prior telephone arrangement. An interesting fact is that the museum was born out of one man’s passion and has now become an important site that commemorates not only the person of Hugo Kołłątaj but also the significance of the Enlightenment in Polish culture and history.
