Iłża is an urban-rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Radom County, with its administrative seat in the town of Iłża. The municipality covers an area of 255.82 km², of which 53% is agricultural land and 39% is forested. Historically, the municipality was part of the Radom Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. As of the end of December 2021, Iłża had a population of 14,357 people. The municipality is traversed by important roads: national road no. 9 and voivodeship road no. 747, ensuring good connectivity with the rest of the region. The area also hosts a subzone of the Starachowice Special Economic Zone, which supports local economic development. Iłża is also rich in natural resources, with two nature reserves: Dąbrowa Polańska and Piotrowe Pole. Additionally, a significant part of the municipality lies within the Iłża-Makowiec Protected Landscape Area. The municipality consists of numerous villages, such as Alojzów, Białka, and Chwałowice, and also includes settlements without village status, such as Kolonia Seredzice and Nowy Jasieniec Iłżecki. Interestingly, Iłża is well-known in the region for its local communities, engaging residents in various cultural initiatives, which helps strengthen local bonds.
