Gniewkowo is an urban-rural municipality in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Inowrocław County, with its seat in the town of Gniewkowo. The municipality covers an area of 179.44 km², and its demographics in 2004 indicated a population of 14,782. The land use is dominated by agricultural areas (63%) and forests (25%). It is worth noting the municipality's rich architectural resources, including numerous immovable monuments. Among the most valuable is the 14th-century parish church dedicated to St. Nicholas and St. Constance, which is listed in the register of historical monuments. Gniewkowo also features a Roman Catholic cemetery from 1891, a town hall from 1908, and a manor complex in Kaczkowo, comprising an early 19th-century manor house and a late 19th-century park. The municipality is also home to other manor and palace complexes, testifying to the historical significance of the region. An interesting site is the Marian sanctuary in Ostrów, which houses an image of the Our Lady of the Scapular from the second half of the 16th century. The municipality consists of 22 villages, including Bąbolin, Gąski, Lipie, and Markowo, as well as other localities such as Branno and Kępa Kujawska. Neighboring municipalities include Aleksandrów Kujawski, Dąbrowa Biskupia, Inowrocław, Rojewo, and Wielka Nieszawka, making Gniewkowo a place with a rich cultural and historical context.
