wikipedia
Inowrocław, a historic city in Poland located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, is a significant health resort. With a population of 68,101 according to 2022 data, the city gained its spa status thanks to rich deposits of rock salt, which were exploited from ancient times until the 1980s. It is also characterized by its brine graduation towers and the highly mineralized water "Inowrocławianka" extracted here. Inowrocław, patronized by Queen Jadwiga, is known for its numerous monuments, including the Gothic Church of St. Nicholas and the neo-Gothic town hall from the early 20th century. The city offers a rich cultural infrastructure with a theater, museum, and various festivals, such as the National Review of Youth Wind Orchestras. The history of Inowrocław dates back to the 1st century BC, when the area was actively involved in trade. In the 13th century, Inowrocław gained city status, and in the following centuries, it served as the seat of the Kuyavian dukes and the site of important events for Poland, such as the Polish-Teutonic trials. In the 20th century, the city experienced the difficult times of German occupation, and after the war, it underwent administrative changes, becoming a county center. Today, Inowrocław strives to attract tourists with its attractive spa areas, parks, and unique historical figures associated with the city, including Jan Kasprowicz and General Władysław Sikorski. Interestingly, in 2016, the city was recognized as one of the cleanest in Poland according to air quality studies, making Inowrocław an even more attractive place for residents and tourists. In 2013, the Salt Gallery was opened, contributing to the further development of the local economy. For many years, the city has faced demographic challenges, but it still has much to offer in terms of history, architecture, and culture.
