wikipedia
The Izbica Commune, located in the Lublin Voivodeship within the Krasnystaw County, has a rich historical background. It was established in 1877 through the transformation of the Tarnogóra Commune after the administrative seat was moved to Izbica. During the interwar period, part of Izbica's territory was separated to form the newly created Tarnogóra Commune. After World War II, the commune underwent administrative changes, becoming part of the Zamość Voivodeship, and since 1999, it has once again belonged to the Lublin Voivodeship, retaining various localities within its structure, such as Izbica-Wieś, Kryniczki, and Stryjów. The commune is characterized as a typical agricultural area with a strong specialization in fruit farming and herb cultivation. Its picturesque location, abundant forests, and the Wieprz River create ideal conditions for tourism development, including agritourism and fishing. In 1995, the Skierbieszów Landscape Park was established within its territory, known for its beech forests and protected plant species. As of 2004, the Izbica Commune was inhabited by 9,019 people, and its land structure consists of 75% agricultural land and 18% forested areas. An interesting aspect of its social life is its partnership with the German commune of Winterlingen, highlighting cultural ties and international cooperation. The commune combines local traditions with tourism potential, making it an interesting place from both a historical and cultural perspective.
