wikipedia
Jabłonna is a rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Legionowo County. Its history dates back to 1867, when it was established as a result of the municipal reform in the Kingdom of Poland. Initially, it belonged to the Warsaw County in the Warsaw Governorate. During the interwar period, the municipality of Jabłonna boasted a rich array of settlements and villages, including Brzeziny Nowe, Dąbrówka Grzybowska, and Tarchomin, which later gained the status of districts within Warsaw. During World War II, the municipality fell under the General Government, and after the war, it underwent a series of administrative changes, incorporating areas from neighboring units. In 1954, the municipality was abolished, and its territory became part of newly created gromadas (small administrative units). After many years, in 1973, the municipality was reinstated, encompassing the territories of several pre-war municipalities. Over the years, Jabłonna has developed significantly, particularly in demographic terms, as evidenced by data from 2009, when its population was 14,314, rising to 18,916 by 2017. Jabłonna is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, with agricultural land covering 37% of its area and forests accounting for 42%, making it attractive to both residents and tourists. Architecturally, the municipality retains many traditional rural buildings alongside modern housing estates, reflecting the region's balanced development. The municipality also boasts a rich cultural life, with various local events that bring the community together and promote local culture. Mayors such as Grażyna Trzaskoma and Jarosław Chodorski have contributed to the dynamic development of the municipality, addressing the needs of its residents. Neighboring municipalities, such as Legionowo and Łomianki, also influence Jabłonna's character through close cooperation and joint initiatives. An interesting fact is that the municipality has undergone numerous boundary changes over the years, with many of its areas being incorporated into Warsaw or other administrative units, further highlighting its historical variability and social vitality. Jabłonna, blending tradition and modernity, serves as a compelling example of a rural municipality that is dynamically evolving while preserving its roots.
