wikipedia
Jan Matejko's Manor in Krzesławice, built in 1826, is an example of an old Polish rural residence and now serves as a museum. Its architectural style features a single-story building with a veranda designed by Matejko himself and an annex that housed his painting studio. The manor is surrounded by a 4-hectare park, and its interior is furnished in an eclectic style, with pieces originating from, among others, Count Pusłowski's palace, as well as paintings and exhibits related to Jan Matejko and Hugo Kołłątaj. Among the more interesting exhibits are an 18th-century bone-inlaid secretary desk, the piano of Matejko's wife, and paintings including portraits of Tadeusz Kościuszko and Stanisław August Poniatowski. The history of these lands dates back to the times of the Gryfit knights, and later the estate passed into the hands of the Kraków Academy. A key figure in the history of the manor was Hugo Kołłątaj, who owned it in the 18th century and built a new manor house, and later Jan Matejko, who acquired it in 1876 and transformed it according to his own design, creating a place where the artist's famous works were produced. After his death, the estate changed hands multiple times, and in 1966 the manor was converted into a museum that collects memorabilia related to Matejko and Kołłątaj. The manor and park complex has been entered into the register of historical monuments, underscoring its architectural and cultural significance.
