wikipedia
Jarnołtówek is a picturesque village in the Opole Voivodeship, located in the northern part of the Opawskie Mountains, near the border with the Czech Republic. Historically known as Arnoldsdorf, the village boasts a rich cultural heritage dating back to the 13th century, when it was first mentioned. In the past, Jarnołtówek was a settlement of the bishops of Wrocław, and its history is linked to gold mining and witch trials. The centerpiece of the village is the neo-Romanesque Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, built in 1907 after a flood destroyed the previous building. Next to the church is a manor complex, including a 19th-century manor house that replaced an earlier defensive manor from the 16th century. Jarnołtówek is known for its numerous monuments, including a water mill and chapels, as well as its historical rural layout. The village has a rich tourism tradition; in 1924, a tourist shelter was opened there, which today is called "Pod Kopą Biskupią." The area offers opportunities for hiking and cycling, and the nearby terrain is popular among skiers. An interesting fact is the UFO sighting by residents in 2009, which attracted media attention worldwide. Jarnołtówek has experienced severe floods, the worst of which occurred in 1903, causing significant material damage. Despite natural challenges, the village now boasts a developed accommodation and recreational infrastructure and is considered an attractive resort in the region, with numerous agritourism farms and rehabilitation centers. The village is striving to improve transportation quality, and its residents are seeking a change in administrative affiliation, hoping to join the Prudnik municipality. With its rich history and natural beauty, Jarnołtówek is an important point on the tourist map of the Opole region.
