wikipedia
Jasień is a village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Brzesko County, with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. First mentioned in 1344, it obtained the status of a village headship (sołectwo) and had its first parish with a church founded by Spycimir. The current parish church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1436, is a well-known example of Gothic architecture, featuring unique polychrome paintings and a neo-Gothic altar. Jasień also boasts an 18th-century bell tower, a parish cemetery with a chapel, and a parsonage granary. In the 18th century, a local military airfield operated near the village, and Jasień held significant regional importance. During the 19th century, it was a prosperous place with a brickyard and educational foundations. Interestingly, the village participated in the Bar Confederation, supporting local confederates. The area of Jasień is also known for archaeological discoveries, such as Neolithic vessels and tools, as well as Roman coins. During World War II, the village suffered destruction due to military presence, and after the war, the Brzesko Logistics Park was established on the site of the former brickyard. Culturally, Jasień is characterized by local folklore, and its architecture and monuments attract historians and tourists. An important aspect of social life has been the activity of advocates for local traditions and the development of school infrastructure. The village features many interesting structures, including striped-pattern wooden buildings and World War II-era bunkers. With its rich historical and cultural heritage, Jasień is a valuable part of the Lesser Poland landscape.
