wikipedia
Jasionowe Wzgórze is a housing estate in Prudnik, located on the eastern edge of the city. Its name was officially adopted by the National Council of the City and Municipality in 1986. The name refers to the neighboring village of Jasiona and is often used interchangeably with the colloquial term "Sójcze Wzgórze" (Jay's Hill), which originates from a popular Czech television series broadcast in Poland in the 1980s. Geographically, the estate is situated between Jesionkowa and Skowrońskiego streets, on an elevated area at 275 meters above sea level. It is the largest housing estate in the Prudnik district, though it does not have separate administrative boundaries or its own postal code. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, when the area was used as fields and meadows. In the 19th century, a farm was built here, and plans for developing a housing estate in this location emerged during the German era. During the Polish People's Republic, these plans were partially implemented but never fully completed. Today, Jasionowe Wzgórze features numerous retail outlets and the Zespół Szkolno-Przedszkolny nr 1 (School and Kindergarten Complex No. 1). In the northern part of the estate stands the Church of Divine Mercy, while the "Sójka" sports complex includes facilities such as a sports hall and an indoor swimming pool. It is worth noting that the estate has limited green spaces, and its residents are actively advocating for the expansion of local infrastructure, reflecting a dynamic and diverse community lifestyle.
