Jasliska

Jaśliska, a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship with the status of a former town, is located in the Low Beskids. The history of the settlement dates back to 1365, when it was granted town rights. Jaśliska was an important point on the trade route from Southern Europe, as evidenced by the remains of defensive walls. In the 16th century, the town prospered thanks to the wine trade, especially with Hungary, and its inhabitants were engaged in various crafts. The importance of Jaśliska as an administrative center grew when it became part of the Przemyśl bishopric. The village is home to a valuable complex of historic wooden architecture, consisting of post-and-beam houses and 16th-century cellars. The Church of St. Catherine, built in the 18th century, houses the miraculous image of the Our Lady of Jaśliska, which attracts pilgrims. Jaśliska is also known for its military history, including during invasions and wars, such as the Swedish Deluge and World War II. Modern life in the village revolves around religious worship and tourism, and the region is part of the Jaśliska Landscape Park. Interestingly, famous films such as "Corpus Christi" were filmed in Jaśliska. The village also has a rich cultural heritage, with influential figures associated with various fields, from religion to art and literature.
