wikipedia
Jaworznik is a village in Poland, located in the Silesian Voivodeship, within the Myszków County, in the administrative district of Żarki. The oldest known mention of the settlement dates back to 1373, when a local landowner named Prokop of Jaworznik was recorded. From the 15th century, the village was owned by noble families, including the Koziegłowski and Hińcza of Rogów clans, and in later centuries it came into the possession of the Myszkowski and Koryciński families. Jaworznik earned its place in history during the January Uprising of 1863, when a battle with Russian troops took place here. The village also suffered during World War I, and a military cemetery from that period remains, where many soldiers are buried. During World War II, Jaworznik witnessed tragic events, including a pacification operation carried out by German forces in 1943. Modern-day Jaworznik also has a history of milling and innkeeping dating back to the 15th century, as well as an educational tradition that began in 1809. Interestingly, the village was also a site of industrial activity—a liqueur and vodka distillery was established here in 1835, along with a brickyard. The village is home to an elementary school and a fire station of the Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1920. Jaworznik is an example of a locality where history, culture, and local traditions intertwine into a rich and multifaceted landscape.
