wikipedia
Jelcz-Laskowice is a town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, established on January 1, 1987, through the merger of Jelcz and Laskowice Oławskie. The historical roots of the locality date back to the 13th century, when the first mentions of Laskowice and Jelcz appeared in legal documents, indicating their significance as early as the Middle Ages. In the 16th century, Jelcz was home to a castle that played a strategic role, and parts of the structure have survived to this day as ruins. In Laskowice Oławskie, on the other hand, a palace was built in the 19th century, which now serves as the City Hall. The town also features a historic 17th-century church of St. Stanislaus and the remains of a water castle whose origins trace back to the 6th century. The area also boasts interesting architectural elements, such as the palace complex in Laskowice and various 19th-century buildings. Jelcz-Laskowice also has a notable industrial history linked to the construction of armament factories during World War II. After the war, the town became an industrial hub, particularly in the automotive sector, leading to the establishment of the Jelcz Automotive Plants. Today, the town is an important transport junction and home to numerous industrial plants, including automotive parts manufacturers. Despite changes, it has preserved its traditions and character, becoming a center of cultural and sports activities, offering residents diverse leisure opportunities. In the realm of sports, several clubs operate here, such as TS Volley Jelcz-Laskowice and KS Antonio Orzeł Futsal. The town collaborates with international partners like Gudensberg and Rtyně v Podkrkonoší, enriching its cultural life. Despite historical events, including the 2010 flood, Jelcz-Laskowice demonstrates dynamic development while preserving its historical and architectural heritage.
