Jodłowa

Jodłowa Commune is a rural commune located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in Dębica County. Its history dates back to the 14th century, and over the centuries the area belonged to various administrative entities, including the Habsburg Monarchy and the General Government. After World War II, the commune became part of Jasło County, and since 1999 it has been part of Dębica County. The commune is situated in the Ciężkowice Foothills, in the valley of the Jodłówka River, covering an area of 59.86 km², 69% of which is agricultural land. Jodłowa is divided into five villages within seven administrative units (sołectwa), and as of the end of 2019, it had a population of 5,359. In the past, there was a Jewish community here with a synagogue, which was destroyed during the war. Currently, the commune is dominated by three Catholic parishes, and in the field of education, there are public educational institutions, including a secondary school complex. Culture in the commune is actively supported by the Municipal Center of Culture and Reading, which organizes events, competitions, and festivals. Regular cultural groups include the folk band "Jodłowianie" and the OSP Brass Band. Listed heritage sites include the Church of St. Stanislaus, as well as wooden chapels and cottages. The commune is also rich in historical sites, such as war cemeteries and a Jewish cemetery in Jodłowa-Wisowa. Part of the Brzanka Range Landscape Park is located within the commune, which promotes tourism, and the Three Foothills Trail runs through the area, making it ideal for nature lovers and hikers. The local community preserves folk traditions by organizing festivals and collaborating through rural housewives' clubs. Jodłowa is a place that combines rich history, interesting architecture, dynamic cultural life, and beautiful natural surroundings.
