Jonkowo is a rural commune in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located in the Olsztyn County, and was formerly known as the commune of Wrzesina. Its administrative seat is the village of Jonkowo. The commune covers an area of 168.19 km², of which 48% is agricultural land and 38% is forested. In 2019, the population of the commune was 7,430. The commune is home to three primary schools and one middle school, with a total of 625 students enrolled in 2007. Jonkowo also operates a Municipal Kindergarten, and cultural activities are managed by the Municipal Cultural Center. The commune offers numerous cycling routes for tourists, including a long trail from Olsztyn to Iława, as well as smaller local paths. Architectural landmarks in Jonkowo include churches dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries, along with bell towers and chapels. Sports in the commune are promoted by the Municipal People's Sports Club and KS Jonkovia. Sporting events such as the Indoor Football League have attracted local enthusiasts.
