wikipedia
Kajny is a village located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, with a rich history dating back to 1354, when it was established by the Warmian Chapter. The name of the locality, related to the Old Prussian settlement unit, highlights its traditions and the significance of the Warmia region. The village is situated in the picturesque surroundings of the Redykajny Forestry District, and near the Łyna River, there are also remnants of an early medieval Prussian stronghold. Kajny celebrated its 650th anniversary on August 1, 2004, which was commemorated with a memorial stone. The village's architecture is characterized mainly by single-story houses with usable attics, covered with tiles or sheet metal. Among the monuments is a hydraulic ram, invented by Joseph Michel Montgolfier, which still serves to pump water, as well as a water tower. The entire village has no service points, and the residents mainly run farms for their own needs. In the local community, folk culture is noticeable, with the Żurawski family symbolizing the struggle for Polish identity in the region, which was particularly significant during historical periods such as World War II. Kajny has no bus connections, and the only services and cultural facilities are located in nearby towns. Thanks to a close-knit community, the village continues to cultivate its traditions, even though the number of residents has decreased over time. It is also worth noting the natural wealth of the region, which influences the lives of the inhabitants, and the Protected Landscape Area, which safeguards the natural values of this area.
