Kamieński County, established in 1999, is located in northwestern Poland, within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, with its capital in Kamień Pomorski. The county's territory encompasses the island of Wolin, the Trzebiatów Coast, and the Gryfice Plain. A key tourist attraction is the Wolin National Park, renowned for its beautiful landscapes, including the highest cliff in Poland. The region boasts extensive tourist infrastructure, with towns like Międzyzdroje attracting large numbers of visitors. Historically, until 1975, the area functioned as two separate counties: Kamieński and Woliński. Kamieński County includes urban-rural communes such as Dziwnów, Golczewo, Kamień Pomorski, Międzyzdroje, and Wolin, as well as the rural commune of Świerzno. Demographically, the county's population was 46,999 in 2019, showing a slight decrease to 46,861 in 2020. The region's economy faces challenges with a high unemployment rate of 12.2%, leading to difficulties in the labor market, although the average salary in 2008 was 2,850 PLN. In 2013, the county had budget revenues of 48.1 million PLN, supplemented by expenditures of 45.3 million PLN. In terms of transportation, the county is served by a network of national and regional roads as well as active railway lines, facilitating access to the area. Maritime border crossings in Międzyzdroje are a significant part of the infrastructure. The county also ensures citizen safety with a high crime detection rate of 75.8% in 2009. There are 10 volunteer fire departments and a rescue unit at the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service. The county authorities are based in Kamień Pomorski, where the County Council, consisting of 17 councilors, operates. Residents have a voice in local life through elections to the West Pomeranian Regional Assembly and in constituencies for the Sejm and Senate. Kamieński County borders the city of Świnoujście and the counties of Gryfice and Goleniów. This region is not only a tourist attraction but also rich in historical and architectural heritage, with interesting features rooted in local culture and history.
