Kazimierz Dolny

Kazimierz Dolny is a picturesque town in Poland, located in the Lublin Voivodeship, on the Vistula River, within the Lesser Poland Gorge of the Vistula. The history of Kazimierz dates back to the 11th century, when a Benedictine settlement existed here. In 1181, the settlement was handed over to the Norbertine nuns, who gave it the name Kazimierz. The town gained municipal rights in the 14th century, and its development was linked to the grain trade, which was transported along the Vistula to Gdańsk.
