Kiernozia

Kiernozia is a rural commune located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Łowicz County, with the town of Kiernozia serving as its administrative seat. According to data from 2019, the commune is inhabited by 3,366 people. In the past, it had an interesting administrative history; during the time of the Kingdom of Poland, it belonged to the Gostynin County in the Warsaw Governorate. In 1870, Kiernozia was incorporated into the commune, and during the interwar period, it came under the administration of the Łowicz County. After the administrative changes in 1939, the commune became part of the Łódź Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 76.23 km², with agricultural land dominating (89%) and small forest areas (4%). Gmina Kiernozia is known for its numerous villages, including Brodne, Kiernozia, and Wiśniew, as well as smaller non-village settlements such as Czerniew-Osada and Różanów. The region also includes neighboring communes like Chąśno and Iłów. Kiernozia and its surroundings boast tourist potential, including traditional rural landscapes and local architecture.
