Kiwity is a rural commune located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the Lidzbark County, with its seat in the town of Kiwity. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Olsztyn Voivodeship. As of June 30, 2004, it was inhabited by 3,512 people, and by the end of 2019, this number had decreased to 3,286. The commune covers an area of 145.38 km², of which 74% is agricultural land and 14% is forest land, reflecting its typical agricultural character. Kiwity constitutes 15.73% of the area of Lidzbark County. The commune includes numerous localities, including 17 sołectwas (village administrative districts) such as Bartniki, Kiersnowo, and Rokitnik, as well as smaller settlements without sołectwo status, such as Kłajty and Parkity. Supporting local culture, Kiwity is part of the centuries-old tradition of the Warmian-Masurian region, known for its rich history and heritage.
