Końskie is an urban-rural municipality located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Końskie County, with the town of Końskie serving as its administrative seat. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Kielce Voivodeship. The area hosts a subzone of the Starachowice Special Economic Zone, which supports the region's economic development. According to demographic data, the municipality had a population of 36,547 in 2004, which slightly decreased to 36,450 by 2013. Covering an area of 250.18 km², Końskie is rich in natural resources, with agricultural land accounting for 41% and forested areas making up 49% of its territory. Notably, the municipality constitutes 21.92% of the total area of Końskie County. Historically, in 1925, the manor farm of Dyszów was detached from the municipality and incorporated into the town of Końskie. The area features a diverse settlement structure, including several village districts (sołectwa) such as Baczyna, Barycz, Dyszów, and Sielpia Wielka, as well as hamlets without formal administrative status. Końskie borders municipalities like Białaczów, Gowarczów, and Radoszyce. The region also boasts cultural and historical attractions, characterized by its green surroundings and varied landscapes, which draw tourists. Interestingly, parts of the municipality are designated as economic subzones, highlighting its modern character while preserving its historical heritage.
