Konecki County is a local government unit in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, established in 1999, with its seat in the town of Końskie. It covers an area of 1,140 km² and is inhabited by approximately 84,500 people. The county consists of 8 municipalities, including 4 urban-rural municipalities and 4 rural municipalities. The history of the county dates back to the 12th century when it was part of the Żarnów castellany. During the partitions of Poland, Końskie became an administrative center, and in 1866, Konecki County was established. The area features numerous monuments of sacral architecture and elements of industrial buildings related to the former Old-Polish Industrial Region. The region is rich in natural attractions, such as forests, rivers, and protected areas, including the Przedborski Landscape Park and numerous nature reserves. The flora and fauna of the county are diverse, with a rich population of animals, including rare and protected species. Konecki County is characterized by a varied climate and fertile, though mineral-poor soils, resulting in the dominance of less fertile agricultural land. The local culture combines elements of the Opoczno region with Świętokrzyskie traditions, as well as distinctive folk rituals. The county is home to numerous cultural institutions, such as community centers and sports facilities. A major tourist attraction is Sielpia Wielka, a reservoir perfect for recreation, surrounded by beautiful forests and tourist trails for both hiking and cycling. Konecki County also attracts nature enthusiasts, offering attractive routes and opportunities to explore local natural and cultural treasures.
