Końskowola is a rural municipality in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Puławy County, characterized by its agricultural nature. The administrative seat of the municipality is the settlement of Końskowola. According to data from 2017, it has a population of 8,882 inhabitants spread over an area of 89.63 km², resulting in a population density of 101 people per km². The municipality borders several key administrative units, including the urban municipality of Puławy, as well as the municipalities of Żyrzyn, Kurów, Wąwolnica, and Kazimierz Dolny. The history of the municipality dates back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland. Its formal establishment took place on May 31, 1870, when Końskowola lost its town rights and was transformed into a rural municipality. Throughout the 20th century, the municipality underwent numerous administrative changes, including division into several village districts (sołectwa). The area is predominantly covered by agricultural land, and the main source of income for the residents is farming, including the cultivation of roses, which are exported both within Poland and abroad. The municipality consists of 16 village districts, including Końskowola, Młynki, Witowice, and Sielce. It has also witnessed various historical transformations, including multiple administrative reforms. Its current structure was established after 1998, when it was reintegrated into Puławy County. Końskowola, both as a settlement and a municipality, plays an important cultural role by preserving rural traditions and enriching local identity. Interestingly, despite its small size, the municipality boasts a rich history and natural diversity, making it an interesting place both to live in and to visit.
