Krasnobród is a town in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Zamość County, picturesquely situated on the Wieprz River within the Krasnobród Landscape Park. Although it held town rights until 1869, they were restored on December 30, 1994. The diverse history of Krasnobród dates back to the 16th century when it was established as a private noble town, once owned by the Lipski, Leszczyński, Zamoyski, and Fudakowski families. The town was characterized by a diverse ethnic structure, where Poles (Catholics), Jews, and Ruthenians coexisted until World War II. The town features a Baroque Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is a renowned center of Marian worship, with the image of Our Lady of Krasnobród held in particular veneration. Significant historical sites include the Dominican monastery complex and the Krasnobród Village Museum. Also worth mentioning are the Leszczyński Palace from the 16th–19th centuries and a scenic viewpoint at the quarry. Krasnobród hosts numerous religious celebrations, such as church fairs in July and August, as well as the Diocesan Harvest Festival in September. The town serves as a health and tourist resort, offering residents and visitors opportunities for relaxation by the reservoir and in the nearby Święty Roch nature reserve. The local sports scene is actively represented by the Miejsko-Gminny Klub Sportowy Igros Krasnobród. Despite its small size, Krasnobród holds great historical, architectural, and cultural value, making it a tourist attraction in the region.
