Krasnobród, an urban-rural municipality in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Zamość County, boasts a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to Zamość County in the Lublin Governorate. The name of the municipality refers to the town of Krasnobród, which was historically known as Podklasztor, highlighting its religious and cultural significance. Since January 13, 1870, with the effect of incorporation, the town lost its municipal rights, which influenced its development. The municipality, covering an area of 124.85 km², features a diverse landscape, where agricultural land constitutes 47%, and forested areas account for 45%. The local authorities prioritize environmental protection, as evidenced by the existence of the Święty Roch Nature Reserve, which safeguards natural beech-fir forest stands, reflecting a commitment to preserving local fauna and flora. Demographically, the municipality had approximately 7,097 residents as of December 31, 2019, marking a decrease compared to 2004, when the population was 7,300.
