Kruszewo

Kruszewo is a village in Poland, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within Piła County, in the municipality of Ujście. Its name derives from the word "krusza," meaning pear tree, which refers to the numerous wild pear trees growing in the area. The village has medieval roots, with the first written records dating back to the early 15th century, when it was part of the noble Czarnkowski family's estate. Over the centuries, Kruszewo underwent numerous changes in ownership, including belonging to the aristocratic Świnarski family, who in the 19th century rebuilt the palace in a Neo-Renaissance style with a distinctive round tower. The village also features other architectural highlights, such as the Church of St. Adalbert from 1928 and a cemetery whose surroundings were long adorned with glacial erratics collected by the former parish priest, Father Marian Derkaczewski. Kruszewo has not only preserved its historical significance but has also developed cultural life, establishing a Village Community Center and the "Orlik" sports complex. The village was also involved in the Greater Poland Uprising of 1918 and later witnessed the development of infrastructure, including the construction of a school, kindergarten, and healthcare centers. Residents have access to local services such as a public health center and dental clinics, as well as recreational and sports facilities, contributing to the sustainable development of the local community. Kruszewo is a place where history meets modernity, creating a unique atmosphere for both residents and tourists.
