The Książ Wielki Municipality, located in the northern part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Miechów County, covers an area of 138 km², of which 67% is agricultural land and 27% is forest. The town of Książ Wielki, formerly known as Wielka Wieś, is the municipal seat and boasts a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Miechów County in the Kielce Governorate. The municipality is home to the largest forest complex, the "Chrusty" forest, which contains two nature reserves: Lipny Dół and Kwiatkówka. The area is characterized by a hilly landscape, ravines, and the valley of the Nidzica River, attracting residents of large urban agglomerations, such as Kraków, who invest in holiday homes. The Książ Wielki Municipality has a population of nearly 5,600, resulting in a population density of 40 people per km². The dominant employment sector is agriculture, particularly pig farming and the cultivation of cereals and sugar beets. Educational institutions in the municipality include a kindergarten, three primary schools, and the Agricultural School Complex located in the historic "Mirów" castle. Services for the elderly are also available at the Social Assistance Home in Mianocice and occupational therapy workshops in Rzędowice. The hospitality industry is developing within the municipality, especially along National Road No. 7, where seven establishments operate, some of which offer accommodation. The municipality has a water supply and sewage network, including modern on-site wastewater treatment plants. Interestingly, westerly winds prevail, and climate statistics highlight a charming landscape with 80 days of snow cover and 91 summer days. The municipality borders other municipalities: Charsznica, Działoszyce, Kozłów, Miechów, Słaboszów, and Wodzisław, fostering regional cooperation. With its rich history and natural assets, Książ Wielki is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live and relax.
