Kulesze Kościelne

Gmina Kulesze Kościelne, located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship within the Wysokie Mazowieckie County, has a predominantly agricultural character, which is reflected in its demographic and economic structure. The municipal seat is situated in Kulesze Kościelne, and the municipality comprises 32 rural settlements, each of which holds the status of a sołectwo (village administrative unit). The area is known for its extensive agricultural land, which covers 67% of its total area, with arable land being the dominant type. Farming in the municipality focuses mainly on grain crops such as rye, wheat, and oats, as well as animal husbandry, particularly cattle, pigs, and poultry. Kulesze Kościelne is characterized not only by abundant green areas conducive to breeding but also by relatively poor soil quality, which highlights the unique nature of local agriculture. The average population decreased from 3,405 in 2004 to 3,306 in 2010. From a historical perspective, the municipality was established as a result of administrative changes, and between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Łomża Voivodeship. Among local points of interest, the diverse cultural landscape and the activity of entrepreneurs in agriculture, hunting, and transportation are noteworthy. The municipality borders other communes, fostering cultural and trade exchange. Although modest, the local architecture reflects rural traditions, and many residents preserve local customs and folklore, adding color to the community’s daily life.
