wikipedia
Lądek-Zdrój, formerly known as Bad Landeck, is a picturesque town in Lower Silesia, recognized as one of the oldest health resorts in Poland. It was granted town rights in 1282, and its history dates back to the Middle Ages, when the spa industry began to develop here. Sulfurous and radon-rich waters attracted visitors, including famous figures such as Goethe and Empress Catherine II. The spa facilities, particularly the "Wojciech" complex, stand out with their neo-Baroque decorations and thermal pools. Lądek-Zdrój boasts rich architecture, including the Baroque Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, several parks and springs, as well as historic buildings around the market square, such as the neo-Renaissance town hall. The town hosts numerous cultural events, like the Lądek Ballet Summer and the Andrzej Zawada Mountain Film Festival, which attract both tourists and locals. Lądek-Zdrój is also known for its beautiful hiking trails and natural attractions in the surrounding mountains, such as the Stołowe Skały (Table Rocks) and Radochowska Cave. In the 19th century, the town caught the attention of Princess Marianne of the Netherlands, whose efforts significantly contributed to the development of its infrastructure. Besides its rich spa history, Lądek-Zdrój also has an interesting coat of arms reflecting its historical traditions and a flag with heraldic motifs. Today, the town has around 5,043 residents and is a place where spa traditions blend with modernity, attracting tourists seeking relaxation and natural healing methods.
