wikipedia
The Łagów Palace, built in 1581 by Michał Ender von Sercha and his wife Elizabeth Hoffmann, is a significant historical and architectural landmark in the region. Over the centuries, the estate changed hands multiple times, including ownership by knightly families and the mayor of Görlitz, Georg Emmerich. The palace acquired a Renaissance style, with some elements preserved to this day. In the 17th century, the residence hosted notable figures such as Johann Georg von Brandenburg and Albrecht von Wallenstein. In 1782, a major renovation took place, resulting in the palace's current appearance, featuring a distinctive portal adorned with the founder's coat of arms and a Latin inscription. The palace complex is centered around a courtyard, enclosed on three sides by outbuildings and a high wall. The interior is characterized by a two-tract layout of rooms, cross vaults, and barrel vaults. In 2014, the building underwent comprehensive revitalization and now operates as a hotel and banquet venue. The palace is also known for its Baroque sculptures by Jan Chrystian Kirchner, which were originally located in another palace. The history, architecture, and cultural significance of this site form a unique ensemble, making Łagów Palace an important part of the region's heritage.
