Its history dates back to pre-war times, and the administrative changes it underwent in the 20th century include its affiliation to the Niemodlin County between 1945 and 1975, and its later location within the Opole Voivodeship. The seat of the municipality is Łambinowice, which, according to 2018 data, had a population of 7,602. The municipality covers an area of 123.71 km², of which over 68% is agricultural land and 17% is forest land, highlighting its agricultural and forest character, as well as the surrounding nature. An interesting geographical aspect is that the municipality constitutes 10.11% of the area of Nysa County.
