Nysa is an urban-rural municipality in the Opole Voivodeship, located in Nysa County, with its seat in the town of Nysa. In the past, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Opole Voivodeship. According to data from December 31, 2019, the population of the municipality was 56,951, indicating a slight decrease compared to 2014, when the number reached 58,397. The municipality of Nysa covers an area of 217.6 km², of which 68% is agricultural land and 9% is forest land, making the area significant both from an agricultural and natural perspective. It constitutes 17.78% of the area of Nysa County. In and around Nysa, there are numerous localities such as Biała Nyska, Hajduki Nyskie, Głębinów, and many others, reflecting the diversity of the communities inhabiting the area. The municipality borders communes such as Głuchołazy, Korfantów, and Prudnik, which fosters cooperation and cultural exchange. Architecturally, Nysa boasts many historic landmarks, including a Baroque town hall and numerous churches, which bear witness to the region's rich history. Nysa was also an important cultural and educational center, which is still evident in the numerous cultural events and activities of local cultural institutions. Interestingly, Nysa was once referred to as "Nysa Nysa" and is a well-known town in the region, underscoring its significance in the history of Silesia. It is also worth mentioning the beautiful landscapes surrounding the municipality, which attract both tourists and residents, offering plenty of opportunities for recreation and leisure.
