wikipedia
Laskowice, known in German as Laßwitz, is a village located in the Opole Voivodeship, in the Prudnik County, near the border with the Czech Republic. Historically part of Upper Silesia, the village boasts a rich cultural heritage dating back to the Middle Ages. The first mention of the settlement dates back to 1228, and over the centuries, its name has evolved—from the Latin form "Lascovici" in historical documents to changes during the German occupation and the Nazi era. Architecturally, Laskowice is proud of its preserved 13th-century rural layout, a manor farm complex, and a bell tower chapel from 1900. The village also has a significant history tied to wartime events, including the tragic consequences of Hussitism in 1428 and crimes committed during World War II. Additionally, tourism is developing in Laskowice, with opportunities for cycling routes and proximity to picturesque landscapes, attracting visitors. Modern village life is shaped by its migrant population, primarily settlers from the Eastern Borderlands after 1945. The village is well-connected, thanks to a national road and bus links. Laskowice also has a rich religious history, with Catholics belonging to the All Saints Parish in Nowy Browiniec. The history, architecture, culture, and heritage of Laskowice are full of diversity and richness, making it an interesting place on the map of Lesser Poland.
