wikipedia
Łaszczów is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Tomaszów County, with its seat in the town of Łaszczów. This municipality has a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Lublin Governorate. Administrative changes occurred over the years, including the renaming of the municipality to Gmina Czerkasy in 1874 and the restoration of the name Łaszczów in 1922. During World War II, the municipality was incorporated into Zamość County in the Lublin District, and after the war, the previous administrative division was restored. Following numerous administrative reforms, the municipality was reestablished in 1973 and has belonged to Tomaszów County again since 1999. On January 1, 2010, the municipality gained new privileges, transforming into an urban-rural municipality after Łaszczów regained its town rights. The municipality covers an area of 128.23 km², of which 87% is agricultural land and only 4% is forested. Demographically, in 2009, the municipality had 6,380 inhabitants; in 2014, an age pyramid of the local population was presented. Łaszczów includes many village districts, such as Czerkasy, Łaszczów-Kolonia, and Muratyn, as well as numerous settlements like Dobużek-Kolonia or Pukarzów-Kolonia. In an architectural context, the municipality combines rural buildings with historical elements typical of the Lublin region, where traditional houses and farmsteads dominate. Local culture is strongly tied to agricultural traditions, which influence the lives of the residents. An interesting aspect is the diversity of village districts and settlements, reflecting the municipality’s socio-cultural richness and its dynamism in the context of administrative and social changes over the years. Łaszczów also serves as an example of adaptation to contemporary challenges, blending tradition with modern local governance. It is also worth noting the municipality’s proximity to other units, such as Jarczów, Tyszowce, and Mircze, highlighting its integral role in the regional landscape of the Lublin area.
